Darrell Sheets Left Suicide Note Citing Facebook Bullying Before His Death

Storage Wars personality Darrell Sheets left a handwritten suicide note citing "Facebook bullying" before his death at age 67 in April, according to a police incident report released nearly three months after the incident. The Lake Havasu City Police Department's investigation revealed that authorities discovered the note hidden in a closet near where Sheets was found, written in what appeared to be shaky handwriting. The report also documented cyberbullying allegations and family tensions that preceded his death.

Discovery and Initial Circumstances

Sheets was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at approximately 2 a.m. local time on April 22 at his residence in western Arizona. His girlfriend reported that she found him in his office chair with what she believed to be a handgun to his head. She described hearing him sound like he was crying before hearing a single gunshot. She immediately called emergency services.

The handwritten note, located inside a black bin within a closet, read in part: "I could not take anymore the Facebook bulling." Police noted the writing appeared shaky, suggesting a compromised mental or physical state at the time of composition.

Contributing Factors and Family Conflict

The incident report revealed multiple stressors in the days preceding Sheets' death. On the evening he died, his daughter-in-law sent text messages to him claiming his girlfriend was "suspicious" and "stealing money" from him. His girlfriend reported that Sheets appeared "sad and upset" upon receiving these messages. Additional family conflict emerged when his son engaged in a verbal argument with him over what his girlfriend described as "family drama," with shouting escalating to the point where Sheets reportedly "didn't want to be alone with them."

His girlfriend also told detectives that Sheets had been experiencing chronic sleep deprivation and was "stressed out" in the weeks before his death. She stated he had never previously mentioned self-harm and described their relationship as "good" leading up to the incident.

Cyberbullying Investigation

Police also investigated allegations of online harassment, with his Storage Wars costar Rene Nezhoda reporting that Sheets "had a guy really, really tormenting him lately." Investigators interviewed a man identified as the alleged online bully. According to the report, this individual was "extremely uncooperative," denied involvement in Sheets' death, and claimed he was "nowhere near" Arizona at the time. The man stated he had been receiving "death threats" and declined to answer further questions from detectives.
