The feat moves the Arizona catcher into sole possession of the second-longest on-base streak in franchise history, surpassing Jay Bell's 39-game streak from 1998 and trailing only Corbin Carroll's current 44-game run in 2024.

With Arizona's bases loaded in the seventh inning after consecutive singles by Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll plus a walk to Geraldo Perdomo, Moreno stepped into the batter's box with one out. Facing pitcher Tom Cosgrove on an 0-1 count, he connected on a deep fly ball to left field that scored Marte with the go-ahead run. The timing proved decisive as Washington managed only two additional runs, both coming on a Dylan Crews two-run homer in the fourth inning off Diamondbacks starter Eduardo Rodriguez.

"I know he throws good sliders," Moreno said of the pitch. "He threw me a first-pitcher slider, and then I was expecting something close to me. He threw it and I hit the fly ball bringing in the run." The victory marked Arizona's fourth consecutive win and sixth victory in its last seven games, strengthening the team's position as it approaches the Trade Deadline on August 3.

Manager Torey Lovullo attributed the catcher's success to his disciplined approach at the plate. "It seems like he's on base with every at-bat," Lovullo observed. "He spoils us with a really good approach. There's just an ease to his game, and he's kind of in the middle of everything."

Moreno credits mental fortitude for his on-field performance. "Sometimes, especially in my position, you have a lot on your mind," he explained. "I've been working on that. Staying level no matter what situation it is. I know moments go up and down. I have to stay the same and do my job." This psychological consistency has proven essential as he maintains focus through varying game situations.

Rodriguez Rebounds

On the mound, Eduardo Rodriguez delivered a solid performance after struggling in his previous outing. The pitcher allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four batters. Rodriguez threw 98 pitches, with 63 landing for strikes. "My last start, I was missing a lot of spots," he acknowledged. "That happens, and today I just tried to execute. And I executed, and we ended up winning the game."
