Former Scottish National Party Chief Peter Murrell Sentenced to Over Five Years for Embezzling Party Funds
Peter Murrell, former chief executive of the Scottish National Party, has been sentenced to more than five years imprisonment for embezzling over £400,000 in party funds accumulated during his 12-year tenure. The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Murrell used stolen money to purchase luxury items including a motorhome valued at £124,550, with authorities now freezing more than £600,000 of his personal assets pending a proceeds of crime hearing scheduled for mid-September.
