Negotiations with the returning cast are expected to commence soon, though Hill currently holds an offer to reprise his role.

Production Team and Studio Backing
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two films released in 2012 and 2014 respectively, are returning as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz. Jonah Hill and his production partner Matt Dines at Strong Baby Productions, along with Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin of Free Association, will also serve as producers on the project. Rothman, known for his work on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, previously contributed to the script for 22 Jump Street alongside Michael Bacall and Oren Uziel.
Franchise Box Office Success
The Jump Street films have been significant commercial performers for Sony. The original 21 Jump Street, which introduced audiences to undercover police officers Schmidt and Jenko infiltrating a high school, generated over $200 million at the global box office. Its 2014 sequel, where the characters posed as college students, exceeded that performance substantially, collecting $331 million worldwide. Ice Cube returns to the franchise as the gruff superior officer overseeing the undercover program.
Development History and Title Strategy
Development of a third installment has been in progress at Sony for more than a decade. Previous attempts included a script that was designed as a crossover with the Men in Black franchise, which ultimately did not move forward. The decision to title the film 24 Jump Street rather than 23 Jump Street continues a running gag established in the 22 Jump Street ending, where Schmidt and Jenko were shown taking on multiple undercover assignments across various institutions, eventually becoming a video game and animated series. The plot details for 24 Jump Street have not yet been disclosed.
